Project Overview

Macrosphere completed a classroom AV and interactive flat panel upgrade at Forest Lake State School during the mid-year Queensland school holidays.

The project involved assembling and installing 13 large-format, 86-inch Newline interactive flat panels across a combination of fixed wall-mounted and mobile configurations. Five panels were installed on trolleys, while eight were securely wall-mounted throughout the school.

Because the wall-mounted panels were being installed across areas with different wall constructions, Macrosphere also completed the necessary reinforcement works before fitting the display mounts. The entire project was completed within three days, allowing the upgraded classroom technology to be ready before students and staff returned for the new term.

Scope of Works

  • Assembly and installation of five 86-inch interactive flat panels on mobile trolleys
  • Installation of eight 86-inch interactive flat panels on fixed wall mounts
  • Assessment of the existing wall and blackboard configurations
  • Reinforcement of four internal-facing wall locations using steel strapping
  • Installation of timber reinforcement behind four existing blackboards attached to exterior brick walls
  • Installation, positioning and alignment of all display mounts
  • Coordination of the work within the three-day school-holiday installation window
  • Final inspection of the completed panel installations

Key Features & Systems

Mobile Interactive Flat Panels

Five of the 86-inch panels were assembled and installed on T70 height adjustable mobile trolleys.

The trolley-mounted configuration gives the school greater flexibility in how the interactive flat panels are used. Displays can be repositioned between suitable learning spaces and adapted to different classroom layouts, teaching activities and presentation requirements.

Mobile interactive displays can be particularly useful in flexible learning areas, shared classrooms and spaces where a permanent wall-mounted panel is not practical.

Fixed Wall-Mounted Interactive Panels

Eight additional 86-inch panels were installed on fixed wall mounts.

A fixed installation provides a consistent classroom presentation position while keeping the display securely supported and clear of floor space. Before mounting the panels, Macrosphere addressed the different construction conditions found across the nominated installation locations.

This was an important part of the project due to the size and weight of the 86-inch displays.

CHALLENGES

Tight School-Holiday Timeframe
The full installation needed to be completed during the mid-year break so classrooms would be available when students and teachers returned. Macrosphere completed the assembly, reinforcement and installation work within three days.

Different Wall Constructions
The eight wall-mounted displays could not all be installed using the same mounting method. Internal walls and exterior brick-wall locations required different reinforcement solutions.

Working Around Existing Blackboards
Four of the panel locations incorporated existing blackboards. The reinforcement and mounting solution needed to support the new displays while retaining the classroom’s existing infrastructure.

Handling Large-Format Displays
At 86 inches, the panels required careful handling, assembly, positioning and alignment—particularly where access within existing classroom spaces was limited.

PROJECT OUTCOME

Forest Lake State School now has 13 Newline large-format interactive flat panels available across fixed and mobile configurations.

The five trolley-mounted panels provide flexibility for shared and changing learning environments, while the eight wall-mounted panels create permanent classroom AV installations.

By completing the wall reinforcement, panel assembly and mounting work within the school-holiday period, Macrosphere delivered the entire upgrade in three days and had the new displays ready for the start of school term 3 without disruption.
